Review : school punishment

Seoul and Gyeonggi office of education prohibited corporal punishment in schools in order to protect students’ rights. Since teachers are not allowed to hold the rods, lots of circumstances which fell down teachers' authorities are happening. In this situation, I believe the prohibition of corporal punishment neither brings positive educational effects nor increase of students' rights.
First of all, people should think about the real meaning of corporal punishment. Corporal punishment means 'giving physical pain to students in order to give educational messages'. Punishing students by objective judgement is a great way of teaching. Sometimes problems with teachers' personalities make corporal punishment turn into violence. However, this is much more acceptable than the situation that teachers are attacked by students. In other words, it is violent spanking by teachers which has to be prohibited, not corporal punishments.
In current condition, there is no replacement for corporal punishment. In other words, the most effective way of correcting students' bad behavior is physical punishment. The students’ mental is immature. So, they scared corporal punishment, which brings immediate pain. In the contrary, they are not sensitive to other alternatives such as points system, because they don't influence students immediately. Thinking like this will hard to change, and school without corporal punishment would become a chaos.
Considering the situations, banning corporal punishment would not expect a good results. Since it has no effective alternatives, inhumane and never close to the nature of the issue, banning punishment is not a good policy.

Review : illegal immigrants in Korea

Recently, the news which is concerned about illegal immigrants are easily exposed in TV. Since the illegal immigrants are increased, a more problems are occurred. This is why many people said that we don't have to be given a chance for them to stay. But I disagree with that opinion. I think that the people who immigrant to Korea illegally should be given a chance to stay.
Before 1960's, Korea was very poor. Even some people don't have enough money to eat. so many Korean people immigrant to developing countries such as America, Japan and Canada illegally. They just wanted to earn money for their family. Korean suffered from the people who were living in the rich countries. They had hard time. Even government didn't have power to protect people. Now, illegal immigrant situation in Korea is also similar with our experience of past. Illegal immigrants in Korea also want to earn money just for their family. We should remember our past. We do not deny them unless sometimes the illegal immigrants commit a crime.
Moreover, most of them are working in the factory which is related with 3D industry. So, Korean youth doesn't want to work there. If illegal immigrants could not work in the factory, the factories are really short-handed. This would cause severe problem for economic development of Korea.
Although, they are staying here illegally, we can get some benefits from them and they get benefits. It's good interdependence. We should guarantee their wages and their rights.

Review : the popularity of luxuries in Korea

People who lives in Korea can watch that many actors are using an expensive imported car on the TV. In addition, many actors on the TV drama are using many kind of luxury product such as Prada ,Burberry, Gucci, and. Many Koreans who watched the TV drama can think that is a very fantastic about actor's life. Many Koreans who wants to imitate the actor's life are going to desire. Moreover, The more new generation such as teenagers increase in Korea, the more it seems that they want to follow to actor's life than adult. This shows Many women of modern society think the possession of luxury goods to show their social status.
However, appearance is only a small portion of the criteria for judging the person’s character. That is, Common sense tells us that goods cannot define ourselves, and with that set of mind people tend to look down upon those who chase after nothing but money and material. Also, most of them who want to gather the luxuries cannot follow to actor's life because they should pay a lot of money. Many people become feel unhappy after they realize the reality. In other words, if many Koreans just focused on the materialistic society, they get only discouraged. In addition, the appearance-oriented society really makes you miss important things, the value of mental. Seeking for emotional value rather than material things that makes it enriches our lives. Especially, now the time is when we need to emphasize it.

Review : Yellow dust & desertification

As heavy rain fell last month in Thailand, the news that Bangkok city is almost flooded was definitely notable in the world. On the other hand, some of the places are badly in need of rain now. China's Gobi desert is one of those places. The Gobi desert is dry and infertile. China's rapid economic growth has led to widespread clearing of vegetation, causing the Gobi and other desert areas to expand. And a prolonged drought in a desert region will increase the desert's size. This is a serious problem but there is another even more serious problem. When spring comes. It's because Seasonal strong winds are blowing yellow dust from the deserts in China. The winds carry billions of microscopic sand particles. Meanwhile, robust increase in Chinese manufacturing is pouring industrial pollutants into the air. So, The dust which originates in the Gobi Desert in China bind together with heavy metals and carcinogens such as dioxin from industrial cities in eastern China. the dust storms from the deserts of Mongolia and northern China intensify year after year. Unfortunately, There is no still the sure solution to the yellow dust.
As yellow dust can cause eyes and nose problems, many people are worried about their health. Unavoidably when the season for yellow dust coming, make sure you wear masks when you go out. Also, remember to wash your hands often. You should keep the windows and doors closed, so that the yellow sand can’t get into your house. These are the precautionary measure that we can do it in person.

Review : Working holiday

Ten year and several years ago, when the Working holiday visa was introduced to Korea, Some of the college student grabbed the opportunity to go abroad by their salary. In that time, Most of the students who want to use working holiday visa are went to go abroad for several reasons.
First, It gives a good chance to go on a trip abroad at lower price. Usually, you cannot work in the visiting country by tourist visa, but this working holiday visa makes it legally possible. Thanks to salary which cover travel expenses, so you can rather earn money during travel abroad.
Second, college students experience can learn a lot of things to while exploring the unknown world. Working holiday visa makes you possible to stay longer in foreign country than tourist visa. For a long period of time to travel many places, they can experience lots of things.
At last, while many of students in and out of the country through Working Holiday,
it lead to increase mutual understanding between countries and promote the cultural exchange.
Mean while, working holiday visa is attracting the attention of the college students in these days. However, there may be another reason as well. That is a getting a job. As finding job become difficult, college students began looking for a higher specification. So, a  working holiday is the answer of holding higher qualification.
The time has been changed, working holiday must be an attractive opportunity.

Review : half-tuition fee policy

Korea is second place of highest tuition rates among OECD member nations. From one year to another, students have to pay more and more money for University. Many of Students are bending over backwards to make ends meet. This is why started street protests and rallies demanding for change. So, I come up with some solutions to solve the problem.
First, we are able to solve the problem by reducing the number of universities. After the assembly passed the law about founding high education institute, many universities were founded. These universities are main reason of this situation. They have to assign high tuition for running by themselves.
Second, we can solve the problem by amending financial system of university. Most universities do not let us know about their budget. Because of this, some of university administrators can use public funds when they need. If the university has to show transparent public finances by revising financial system, they would not use money on inappropriate programs. It surely effect on decreasing tuition.
At last, we can solve the problem by reorganizing social environment. This looks inappropriate to this topic, it is not true. This is the underlying solution of this situation. Some people insisted that If the tuition fee is high, why don’t you enter the university. But we can get a good job without university graduation certificate. This is the important for graduating university. If this will be corrected, most people do not need to go to university. It let the people free to worry about high tuition fee.

Review : Ahn chul soo - the protagonist of political issue

When looking into Korean history, there is definitely an endless list of political happenings that are more than amusing. These state of affairs enraged a large number of voters. In the long run, Voters get sick and tired of politicians. The nation is ready to witness a change in Korean politics. Ahn chul soo certainly have become an overnight sensation.
The founder and former CEO of AhnLab indicated his candidacy for the mayoral race on an independent ticket. Initial surveys show the former doctor would win any candidate. Both ruling and opposition parties are wooing him. Ahn’s surprizing popularity is the manifestation of public disappointment with elected leaders, both conservative and liberal.
Seoul's top educator Kwak No-hyun, a vocal liberal, is under investigation on suspicion of buying off a candidate in the race for the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education. The allegation has dented the ethical integrity of liberals. Last month the National Assembly voted down a motion to oust Rep. Kang Yong-seok of the governing Grand National Party for his sexist remarks.
Ahn shares the public sentiment that political parties have shown limits for their partisanship, ideological confrontation, egoism and self-interest.
Although society is changing, they are squabbling under an obsolete framework of fights.
Despite his refreshing public image, he has yet to realize the gigantic barriers an independent candidate faces in real politics. Many untainted new faces disappear in public scenes. He may think he is the exception. Ahn has one difference from the pack in that he has so far changed society through deeds, not words.
Past data show that voters have shown a suspicious attitude of liking untainted new faces but voting for a party candidate. It is unclear whether his political experiment will end up a success or failure. Even if he wins the Seoul mayoral race, he would be in a no-win situation as he would have to struggle against the opposition-dominated council.
It is true that Ahn is one of a few unsoiled figures with an air of freshness. It is up to him whether to run. But he can also change society outside the political world.
